So, we almost died...
Okay, so I don't know if we would have died but let's just say the hospital bills would not have been pretty. If you know Olde Worthington, you'll know what I'm talking about. There are crosswalks at major intersections and then there are "make-shift" crosswalks. You know, the kind where you push a button and the street lights up and a sign reads "Crosswalk" in big, bright letters. These are usually located in the middle of a city street. Downtown Worthington is highly pedestrian with all the fun shops and restaurants (and our favorite farmer's market)...it also is the main thorough-fare through Metropolitan Columbus, namely High Street. Jason likes it because he says "people collect there". He likes it when people collect. Anyway, my mom had the kids so Jason and I had dinner at Easton and then we stopped by Graeter's for an ice cream cone. We decided to take a stroll through downtown. When it was time to cross the street, we walked to the crosswalk, hit the button and a gigantic light started to blink. This was our cue that it was time to cross. We stepped out into High Street, Jason more cautiously than I. We saw a mini-van coming toward us. We were sure she would stop. We were wrong. She came centimeters from hitting us dead on. She eventually screeched her tires and stopped 2 feet ahead of where we were standing. If we had been just a little bit slower, or just a step behind, we would have no doubt been in the hospital with serious injuries. Turns out, the mini-van driver was on her cell and didn't even see us. We hope she doesn't forget that evening...we know we won't.
