Outer Banks, North Carolina Summer 2006

No summer is complete without a trip to the beach! Wow, did we have a trip! After 17 hours in the Sienna (it was supposed to be 12 but our tourguide, better known as Daddy, decided to take us to every historical site between here and North Carolina...and there are a lot!), we finally arrived in Corolla North Carolina on the beautiful Outer Banks! A five bedroom, 3 and a half bath house awaited us. Every day we went to the beach, swam in the ocean, rode bikes and swam in the pool. Needless to say, the twins had a blast. There was not one tiny spot on their bodies that was not COVERED in sand! They sat in it, got buried in it, ate it and played. One of their favorite beach activities was chasing crabs in the early morning...they were everywhere! The kids slept in their own room in twin beds...without rails! We only had one incident when Jack fell out of bed. Brynlee was nice enough to join him on the floor when she discovered that he had fallen out of bed. The theme of the week was, "No pooping on the floor. Only potties!"
The kids are probably ready for potty training as they love to take off their diapers and go on the floor if there isn't a potty around. Unfortunately, Mommy and Daddy aren't as ready for potty training as the twins are! We'll have to get ready because there is no holding them back!
Weston went to the beach twice, once under an umbrella and the other time he was in a bjorn. We quickly found out that he has outgrown the Bjorn as his legs turned purple from the lack of circulation...poor little dude. He turns 4 months old this week and he is the size of an 8 month old, I think. Boy can he eat!
So that was our vacation. Our highlight (j and me) was seeing the President fly in Marine One as he landed at the White House just football fields away from us....Jason might disagree though as the dead presidents' graves might have been more exciting for him. We saw Monticello and Ashlawn (former homes of Jefferson and Monroe) as well as graves of Jefferson Davis, John Tyler and James Monroe...along with state capitals of West Virginia and Virginia...we were busy!
A special thanks to Kahren, better known as Grammy, for a great vacation!!!
